On many a night, they’d hide from sight
and yield the carnal way.
Though passion begged silence,
their Conscience, defiant,
would caution them not to stray,
“Lust and desire, a sure path to Hell’s fire!”
but the words, unheard,
would always fade away.
With gluttonous thirst, in the abyss, live the cursed
adrift, they would anxiously wait,
through torturous days and sleepless nights,
‘til guilt’s strength would finally wane,
and from separate lives, they would then unite,
by quietly slipping away,
trading trust for lust, with more lies and such, they again, yield the carnal way.
But one who waits, the forever mate,
sensing danger looms nearby,
and unable to explain this emotional pain,
abandons faith,
opening once blinded eyes.
What one used to believe,
now, cannot be seen,
answers lost in shades of gray.
Confrontation is made,
As words evade, they fail in detail,
Caught, lost, amidst the lies.
In a guilt-filled rage, the mate’s Soul is now prey
and Trust is quickly consumed.
At the end of the day, a high price has been paid,
for their forever, is forever now doomed.
